Newton's Law cards for Great Ormond Street

Whilst visiting my friend Becky's blog a few days ago, in one of her posts she mentioned Kate who is setting up a scheme to send cards to the children at Great Ormond Street to give to the nurses who care for them or family and friends that visit them while they are in hospital, more details here.
I thought this was a lovely idea and knew straight away that I would like to take part. This morning I got out the sheet of Newton's Law stickers that came free with last months Quick Cards Made Easy magazine and set myself a challenge to use them all! I think I made my first 3 cards in half an hour, they really were 'quick cards made easy!' I didn't want the cards to all look the same, so set out to make them all different, although I've used the same papers/embellisments I achieved what I had set out to do!
Here they are :
I want to make smaller cards to go with these for the actual child (you are not required to do this, just write a little note if you wish, but I thought it would be nice for them to receive a card to!)

I just wanted to share a picture with you that my eldest daughter Lillie (5) coloured (although not her best colouring by any means)
I thought it was so amuzing when I looked at it, they must have been doing speach bubbles at school!! (It reads 'I love you' if it's not that clear!)

Anything but a card and an award!

The Dutch Dare challenge this week is 'Anything but a card' I had a bagalope folded ready to decorate, then decided to make a bookmark instead! I had seen this style done on someone's blog, sorry can't remember who's, I loved it, so here is my effort, apologies for the bad pictures again! This also qualifies for the Cute Card Thursday 'fairy and angels' challenge!Jacqui kindly sent me this Whiff of Joy image, oh how I love it, and just perfect for a bookmark!
I have been inspired by Rach who makes the most wonderful cards, she not only decorates the front but all sides of her cards and they look fab. So I have simply arranged some of the dp papers on the inside
and also the back
Hope you like it as much as I do, needless to say it's 'mine' even though the only books I read are cookery books! (craft mags, tv mags and OK!)

I have been lucky enough to receive the following award from Crafting Diva, thank you Lisa! It's lovely to know people take time out to look at my blog and to receive awards like this makes it all worth while!
I am meant to select people to pass this onto, but never know who to select, so if you are reading this at the moment and would like to take the award feel free!
Finally Cathy is celebrating passing 10,000 hits to her blog by giving away a lovely bundle of candy which includes a yummy Magnolia stamp, there's also a runners up prize to. Take a look here, congratulations Cathy :0)

On a roll

I've made 2 cards and another 'something' today, so I'm really chuffed! They cover 4 challenges to, bonus!
First up is a card for a 'teenager' for the Lili of the Valley challenge, which has a LOTV christmas fairy on it, which means it passes for this weeks Cute Card Thursday challenge to as it is 'fairies and angels'. I have glittered the wings and fir on the image which don't show in the picture as there is a bit of glare from the flash, the lighting was rubbish, it looks better in 'real life'and here is a christmas card I have made for Hollie (may even switch it with the one I made for Lillie) this is my entry for the Whiff of Joy challenge which this week is a sketch. Not really happy with the colouring of the reindeer but I just couldn't get it right. I've not added the sentiment as in the sketch as the paper panel at the bottom say merry christmas, I hope it counts as I would love the WOJ stamp that is this weeks prize ;0)
I will show you my other 'make' tomorrow incase I don't get anything made as it's cake baking day!
Just look what the postman brought me this morning, isn't it the most gorgeous card? Trina my fellow A Spoon Full of Sugar DT member sent me it for my birthday, who cares that it is late when it's this lovely? and inside were a fabulous selection of stamped images and a pack of self adhesive rain dots, Thank You so much Trina what a wonderful surprise :0)

Firework fun!

Last night being the 5th of November, we decided to have a few fireworks at home, and invited mum and dad to join us for tea. I'm not the best at taking photographs, I so wish I was, occassionally I can get a cracking shot but not often enough!!
Anyway here are a few pictures from last night

Hollie having fun with a sparkler! There is no picture of Lillie with one because she freaked out when I gave her one, she also watched the fireworks from inside the garage, good job we didn't pay to see an organized display!
Mum and Dad had fun with the sparklers even if the girls didn't lol.!! I wonder if the '10' is a sign? Maybe something is going to happen on the 10th? Who knows? and a 'spooky' picture of hubby! Looks like something from Ghost Whisperer! If you had any firework fun last night I hope it was fun, and if you are having parties like Deb at the weekend enjoy them!
We have been invited to a free display at the pub I used to work in (where I met Matthew), in the village we used to live in, but with Lillie making such a fuss we may have to turn it down.

I've been scrappin'!!

No not scrappin' as in fighting Lol I've made a couple of scrapbook pages! I've just bought a couple of Dawn Bibby 6x6 scrapbook albums off of ebay and I want to do one each for Lillie and Hollie. I've been wanting to have a go at this weeks sketch from Sketch Saturday and thought it was just perfect for my first pages. The halloween papers are downloads which I purcahsed from Pink Petticoat. Both pages are very similar except this first page has black ribbon and 'spider' paper as Hollie was a spider
and Lillie's page has pink fibres and pink pumpkin paper to match with the colour of her dress!I am really pleased with these, the sketch was great! I have made a few scrapbook pages before but A4 size and to me they take a lot of thinking about and a lot of embellishing, I normally buy 6x6 paper pads so not so much cutting and waste.
We've got my mum and dad coming round for tea tonight, and we've got a few fireworks as a surprise for the girls which should be nice. Just hope it keeps dry!

3 challenges 1 card! make that 4 challenges!!!

I have managed to combine 3 challenges with 1 card today, nearly caught up now! This card has taken me ages to put together today but I am pretty pleased with the results.
I have used a WOJ image kindly sent to me from Jacqui and also used the 'colour scheme' which is burgundy/red and green which were the requirements for this weeks Whiff of Joy challenge, which I am just in time for as there will be a new challenge tomorrow!
I've used the sketch from this weeks Friday Sketchers challenge so that's challenge no.2
and challenge 3 is Lili of the Valley's and that is to make a christmas card!
So here it is :
I have cut out the image and mounted it with foam pads and added Anita's dimensions star stickers and a greeting. I have Lillie in mind for this card as this looks a bit like her decorated her tree at christmas, yes the girls have their own tree! Just looked at Papertake weekly's challenge and it is called 'simply sparkling' yippee... another challenge covered so that makes a total of 4 challenges with the 1 card :0) I just love it when that happens!!

A Spoon Full of Sugar -challenge 24

We are on challenge 24 at A Spoon Full of Sugar and this week we have a fabulous sketch designed by our very own Trina
I have actually combined my card with another challenge again this week as I am so behind on challenges. For once we had quite a busy school half term, and I did very little crafting, just spending loads!!
I've used a Bella image that I have had for a while and cocktail embellishments that I was sent for appearing in a craft magazineMy card is DL size and it was quite nice to make this shape for a change, as I've been mainly making square.
We also have a fab prize (one that I really want!!) a set of Letraset Contemperary Christmas ProMarkers kindly donated by Bryony from Silly Monkey Crafts.

As mentioned I am entering this card for this weeks Cute Card Thursday challenge which is aptly titled 'cheers'!!
